Don't think that just because these are made with ground turkey instead of beef that your husbands or boyfriends won't like these. Scott loves it when I make these. They're a favorite for both of us!
(This is the gluten-free picture version. They're good with or without a bun!)
Here's the recipe which I got from my Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook:
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 c. finely crushed nacho-flavor or plain tortilla chips
3 T. finely chopped green pepper
3/4 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 lb. uncooked ground turkey
Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeno, sliced
4 kaiser rolls, or buns
1 avocado, sliced
4 lettuce leaves
1/4 c. bottled salsa
1. Preheat broiler. In medium bowl stir together egg, tortilla chips, green pepper, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Add turkey; mix well. Shape mixture into 4 patties.
2. Broil patties until no longer pink. Top with cheese and broil until cheese melts.
3. Serve burgers on toasted rolls; top with avocado, lettuce, and salsa.
I think the avocado and the jalapeno cheese are what make these extra good! They would be perfect for your next summer BBQ! And here's a short article on ground turkey vs. ground beef if you're interested. Ground turkey is lower in fat and calories than ground beef, but I also think it tastes better because I'm not a huge beef fan.
Have you ever tried replacing ground beef with ground turkey?

Oh wow, no I haven't but I might need to try that.
ReplyDeleteI love using ground turkey instead of beef. Plus, my hubs rarely notices. Especially when it's in a recipe with lots of other ingredients. These burgers look amazing!
