There were some seriously angry muscles in my neck last night after an unsuccessful multi-tasking attempt that involved a pilates video and my two-year-old. It's amazing how much pain can be caused by the slightest wrong movement of your neck. It started out as a regularly painful, sore, and stiff neck, but as the day went on it continued to get worse. Around four o' clock, when I finally got around to getting in the shower, I could barely lift my arms up to wash my hair.

Scott did his best to loosen up my neck during our (surprisingly) new favorite show, Master Chef, but I could tell it was going to take a lot more time and rest than a 10 minute massage to calm that fire in my neck down.
I worriedly went to bed with a heating pack, not knowing how I would make it through the night without moving. I was doing fine until my dang pea-sized bladder woke me up from my painless sleep at 3:00AM. Scott will vouch for me when I say I have a high pain tolerance, but I seriously could not even sit up, my neck hurt so bad. You know you have a sweet husband when he gladly gets up in the middle of the night to lift your head up for you, and get you some pain medicine. He also stayed home from work this morning to call chiropractors, physical therapists, change diapers, and deal with my tired grumpiness. I don't know what I would do without him.

I had spent the night on the couch eating fruit snacks and watching a chick flick because it hurt too bad to lay down. Even the slightest movements in my neck were excruciatingly painful. There's nothing like getting injured that makes you realize the importance of certain muscles in your body, and let me tell you, the neck muscles are really important.

However, it's less than 24 hours later and I'm feeling about 70% better. I don't know what else to give credit to except these titanium discs that I now refer to as magic "stickers." I got a sample of these at the Boston Marathon expo, and I figured it couldn't hurt to stick them on my neck. There's no way that my neck went from being in as much pain as it was last night, to feeling as good as it does right now just by chance. (I'm not getting paid by the sellers of titanium discs or anything) I'm just completely amazed at how much better my neck is today, and I really think it was because of these titanium discs.
I just thought I'd share the success story in case anyone else has a painful muscle injury they're dealing with. I have no idea how they work, or anything else about them. All I know is that the guy at the Boston Marathon expo told me to put them on a sore muscle, and it would make it better. I didn't believe him whatsoever at the expo, but I took the free sample anyway, and now I believe him. Here's a link to the titanium discs on amazon in case you're interested.
I didn't even think I was going to be able to get off the couch by myself today, but thanks to the magic "stickers," I was able to take Little B on a walk, go to a spin class, and last but not least, eat half a pound of the best dessert ever, Spoon It. I'm so glad I decided to give what I thought was a bunch of hocus pocus a try. I wish I could tell you how they work, but all I know right now is that they work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll work through the night so I can make it to my long run tomorrow, especially since I'm really feeling all the sugar I ate today right about now.
Have you ever tried the titanium discs?
I told my little sister about them today. She runs track in college, and although she's never used them, she said a ton of people on her track team swear by them. I was actually surprised that she'd even heard of them. Maybe a lot more people know about these than I realize?
