And sometimes I don't feel like working out either.
I've gotten a few comments from friends and family lately that have made me think that they think I always eat healthy, and I'm always 100% motivated to exercise.
I started this blog to help keep me motivated to eat healthy and exercise as well as share the yummy healthy recipes and motivation I find with others. Since this blog is geared towards healthy living I tend to take pictures of the yummy healthy things I eat rather than the 4 pieces of pizza I had for dinner last Friday night.
I don't know very many people who eat healthy all the time, and I'm certainly not one of those people.
I'm still learning (and have a long ways to go) with finding a good balance between healthy eating and indulgences every once in awhile. Most of the time eating healthy and exercising everyday makes me really happy, but sometimes pizza, candy, and ice-cream make me happy too! Now I just need to find a good balance between the two.
Here's one thing I'm working on to help me find a good balance between eating healthy and indulgences:
One unhealthy decision doesn't have to mean I should make 1 whole day (or week) of unhealthy decisions. So maybe I ate some ice-cream, or had pizza for dinner instead of the salad I was planning on. So what? I'm trying to teach myself not to feel guilty about indulging every once in awhile. The only thing feeling guilty does to me is make me want to make more unhealthy decisions. One thing I've found that helps with "food guilt" is to ask myself what I learned from that particular situation, and then move on. For example: Did I wait too long to eat so I was starving? Was I actually tired and in need of a nap rather than sugar? Was I stressed out? That way even a "bad" decision can be made to feel semi-productive because at least I learned something and hopefully won't make the same mistake next time. :)
I will try to remember to post more of these type of posts just to keep it real. I can't stand the thought of someone feeling guilty for indulging and then making themselves feel even more guilty by thinking that so and so would never eat that. Here's a couple more posts to read just in case you missed them and you're bored: Confessions of an Ice-Cream Binger, and Wouldn't Want to Give Any False Impressions.
I know it's actually Training Log Tuesday, but I decided to do this blog post instead since it was on my mind. I'll either do my training log post later this week, or I'll do two weeks next Tuesday.
I know you don't eat perfect but I feel that you have much more self control than I do!! And your balance is better. You are still a good example even though you do have binge days!! It's good to hear that though :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you don't eat perfect but you do dang good. Way better than me for sure!
